Nov 14, 2012: After the debacle of Aakash 1, Datawind has launched the advance version of the Aakash series Aakash -2 tablets. Aakash-2 was launched by President of India, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee on Monday, 12th Nov 2012. With this launch Aakash-2 has become one of the cheapest available tablet in the world. This low cost tablet has been developed with the support of CDAC & IIT Bombay. The highlights of this tablet are its advance features and aggressive pricing. The tablet will be available to students at a price of Rs. 1,130. The original price of Aakash 2 is Rs.2, 263 and the government will subsidize it by 50% for supply to educational institutions. The government has plans to supply these devices to nearly 22 crore students across India in the next 5 years.
