December 3, 2013: Amazon has disclosed a very ambitious plan of using mini-drones for delivery of orders in near future. The US retail major is working on a project to use Octocopter to deliver orders in 30 minutes. Though experts are sceptic about whether Amazon would be getting necessary clearances from the Federal Government, it is estimated that Amazon’s ‘Prime Air’ would be operational in next four to five years.

With the use of Octocopter, Amazon plans to deliver the orders within 15 km radius to the customers in 30 minutes after they have purchased. This would help Amazon to deliver the parcels fast by avoiding the traffic snarls in cities. These unmanned vehicles would be able to deliver packages weighing upto 2.3 kg.
