The aggressive sales strategy of Apple India might have backfired to an extent in India. This is stated as the bookings made for the newly launched iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus have gone below the expectations, claimed the trade partners of the company. The company has a bold target to triple the pre-bookings for these new devices that will be made available in the country today. But, the pre-bookings have increased just by 10 percent to 15 percent in comparison to the same of the yesteryear models.

The trade partners of Apple stated that the buyers expect to see lower selling prices online as soon as the devices are made widely available. Due to the low online prices, the ambitious sales target of Apple for the latest devices might not be met.

Previously, Apple let the distributors sell the devices at the lowest price to the e-commerce portals and this led to an increase in the sales of the devices via online. The launch price of the models has been increased by around Rs 8,500 to Rs 9,500 in comparison to the last year’s models. This is another reason that adds hesitation to pre-book the new iPhones, claim the trade partners.

As per the CEO of a leading chain of consumer electronics stated that almost 2,000 perspective consumers stated that they would wait see if the prices drop online in a few weeks. Many other leading cell phone as well as electronic retail chains had reached out to the customers to pre-book the new iPhones. This was not the case in the previous years when the supply was outstripped by demand.

Recently, Apple reported record sales for the recent iPhones with over 13 million units sold in three days of its initial launch. As per an executive of a leading e-commerce portal, the iPhone pre-bookings are muted due to heave pricing.
