May 9, 2013: The Indian automobile market though has been witnessing a sluggish growth; it has not deterred car makers from launching new models. Latest to join the bandwagon is Chevrolet who is launching its new MPV today. Chevrolet would be launching its ‘Enjoy’ MPV which is specifically targeted at the value conscious Indian market. Chevrolet had off late been launching new vehicles at different price ranges and very recently it had launched its sedan Chevrolet Sail and Chevrolet Sail UVA.
Chevrolet Enjoy which according to reports would be priced at Rs.6.4 lakhs would not only be taking on Mahindra Xylo, Nissan Evalia and Toyota Innova but also Mahindra Quanto and Maruti Ertiga. The new MPV from Chevrolet comes with a clever packaging and though it would be smaller than an Innova it would be larger than Ertiga and more affordable. The company believes that this will help the company to garner more sales for Chevrolet Enjoy.
Chevrolet Enjoy would be having no frills interior which would be offering basic comforts and only its top end model LTZ would be having electronic brake force distribution, anti lock brakes and dual front airbags. Seven to eight people can easily sit in Enjoy and the middle row can be modified with a bench seat or a standalone seat. Chevrolet would be launching Enjoy in six variants i.e. three diesel and three petrol with a four cylinder 1.3 lt diesel engine and four cylinder 1.4 lt petrol engine powering it. It would be giving out a power of 77.5 PS and 104 PS respectively and has got a five speed manual gear box.
Sceptics are doubtful about its performance since it does not have power like Innova and it has the duty of carrying seven to eight passengers. The verdict about the performance will only be out once the vehicle rolls on to the road. But the company hopes the vehicle to click since with its limited performance it is expected to appeal to large families who are value conscious and also the large taxi market.
