Dettol’s new ad film talks about the importance of washing hands and personal hygiene in its fight against COVID-19. The ad was created by McCann India while working from home.
Dettol has launched a new ad film which educates the importance of personal hygiene and regularly washing hands with soap to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The ad was created and executed by McCann India with simple graphics and educates consumers on how washing hands with soap kills germs and keeps COVID-19 away.
Doctors and medical health professional are constantly stressing on hand hygiene. Washing hands with soap or using hand sanitizers are one of the most important steps in the fight against coronavirus.
But to deliver this message the agency had to do it within their homes as the team at McCann India was also confined to their home because of the lockdown and stepping outside would have contradicted their message and also jeopardized the safety of their team.
The agency notified the directors who could produce this advertisement and they shot the video using mobile phones and since there are travel restrictions, they had to cast their own family members for the ad. The later editing and refining of sound was done by a music composer and an editor within their homes as well.
This is the second ad of Dettol which was completely shot and edited from home. The previous ad showed that while washing hands we should do it for more than 20 seconds although it was more of an awareness advertisement because it did not push their product. It released in the last week of April and starred Lara Dutta Bhupathi, Sania Mirza and Shikhar Dhawan.
Prasoon Joshi Chief Executive Officer and Chief Creative Officer, McCann India was quoted as saying “we were living in testing times. On one hand we have to make sure we strictly stick to the guidelines of the lockdown and at the same time we need to find innovative ways of contributing from home. He said the ad created by them was an example of the same.”
