Dunkin’ Donuts expands its restaurant chain to Chandigarh

March 23, 2013: Dunkin’ Donuts which started its restaurant chain in India by launching nine stores in Delhi has now as part of expansion has started its first restaurant in Chandigarh. The unique feature of Dunkin’ Donuts chain is that they have tweaked their offerings in India based on the local eating habits. The American Breakfast chain presently offers 24 varieties of donut in India. Dunkin recently introduced new flavours like asmotichoor ladoo donuts, gulab jamun donuts etc. during the time of Diwali.

Dunkin’ Donuts has tied up with fast food operator Jubilant Foodworks who are known for running Domino’s Pizz chain in the country to expand its base in India. The company is planning to open nearly 100 outlets in next five years in India. The company has announced roll of 10 new stores at an investment of Rs.12 crore. Dunkin’ after opening nine outlets in Delhi is now planning to expand to metro cities like Mumbai and Bangalore to try a few experiments. The outlets in Chandigarh would be using the Delhi infrastructure for supply chain.

Dunkin’ as part of the launch in Chandigarh has started a huge marketing campaign which includes giving away year long vouchers of free donuts to all its customers who visit the restaurant on March 23rd. With this free offer which is unheard of in the industry, the US based eatery chain is definitely changing the scale of entry.
