Galaxy S4 smartphone unveiled by Samsung Electronics, screen size smaller than Galaxy SIII

March 15, 2013: Samsung Electronics on Thursday unveiled its new Galaxy S4 smartphone which promises to be better than its best selling SIII. With this launch, Samsung has proved that as they come out with more Galaxy S series phones, with each model it is getting better. Samsung Galaxy S4 which would go on sale from April onwards is slightly smaller than SIII and would first be sold in US by all the four national carriers and as well as smaller ones. Though the phone has got a 5 inch screen it promises to be sharper than its predecessor SIII.

Though the price of Galaxy S4 was not revealed during the release, JK Shin, Executive in Charge, Samsung mobile communication division promises that phone would be worth every investment and it will be a life companion that will improve the way most people live every day. Samsung has been doing extremely well in the smartphone market and has sold 100 million Galaxy S phones since its first launch in 2010. Apple has been the main competitor of Samsung in this category and is placed well ahead than them by selling more than 268 million iPhones in the same period.

Samsung has been constantly doing product innovations and is fast catching up with iPhones. At one stage Samsung Galaxy SIII overtook the sales of iPhones in the third quarter of last year. This statistics was brought out by Research firm Strategy Analytics. Screen size has been a major differentiation in the smartphone category and though Apple has been keeping the screen size of its iPhone in the 4 inch range, Samsung has been increasing the screen size with each series of Galaxy S. Galaxy S4 is said to have 56 per cent larger screen than Apple iPhone. Galaxy S4 is expected to be priced at USD 200 with a two year contract in the US. The release date and price for Asian markets has still not been revealed.
