Globally India ranks second in accessing private details of its citizens

Nov 15, 2012: India is said to be ranked next to US in accessing private details of its citizens. This data was released recently by Google as part of its transparency report. According to this report US made 7,96 requests and India made 2319 requests in first six months of 2012. Brazil comes third in the number of requests made and the Brazil government made 1,566 requests. The data which have been accessed include chat logs; search terms and as well as the complete activities done on Gmail account. The request for data from India has doubled in the recent years which are an indicator of growing surveillance.
