Indiabased Lava International is prepping to launch its subsidiary Xolo branded smartphones via its own e-commerce portal. The vendor is the third largest smartphone manufacturer in the country and it is trying to replicate the success that global players such as Motorola and Xiaomi have been achieving inIndiawith the online strategy.

Also, Vishal Sehgal, Co-Founder and Director at Lava confirmed that the launch of the new sub-brand and the e-commerce portal will be coinciding, but the name of the sub-brand is not revealed.

With the launch of its own e-commerce portal, Lava will progress to be the second largest Indian smartphone manufacturer following Micromax. Moreover, it is known that the global players have relished enough success in the country with their online only models. Notably, Micromax recently announced its Yu brand of smartphones with the first one Yureka that goes on sale exclusively via Amazon.

Also, the Chinese vendor Xiaomi that dethroned Samsung in its home land becoming the largest smartphone maker is in plans to launch its own e-commerce portal inIndiaas well. As of now, the firm is selling its offerings exclusively via Flipkart on every Tuesday following pre-registrations, but the overwhelming response has resulted in the vendor coming up with its own platform.

But, Lava appears to be in plans to launch an e-commerce portal for a different reason. Sehgal claims that Lava is planning to bring about price stability for its products with its own website. He added that the firm is not planning to discount and reduce the pricing of its products, but wants to reach out to potential buyers who prefer to interact with the brand digitally.

The e-commerce industry is swiftly changing the conventional sales channels of the smartphone industry in the country and in the other markets as well. Of course, this disruptive online only approach has failed to help Xiaomi in penetrating into the Indian market, but it has helped Motorola in becoming one among the top five smartphone firms in the country.

Sehgal stated that Lava’s e-commerce portal will provide customer support services including remote diagnostics of the device for the convenience of users.
