At a special event held in Mumbai to showcase the products from the makers supporting the Make in India campaign, the manufacturer Volkswagen India showcased its compact sedan VW Ameo. This display follows the global premiere of the vehicle a couple of weeks ago.

The VW Ameo will be launched in the country in mid 2016. The highlight of this vehicle is it is the first one in the sub 4m sedan segment to be launched specifically for the Indian customers from Volkswagen.

Elaborating about the vehicle in brief, the exterior design is claimed as a Volkswagen Polo with a stubby boot. It has many impressive front end features such as sleek dual slat grille, angular headlamps, and rectangular fog lamps in the central intake. Also, there are rear end features such as a sculpted boot and new tail lamps.

The Volkswagen customers will definitely feel at home with the interiors of the VW Ameo. The vehicle has a design that is identical to the sedan and hatchback siblings from the maker.

The interiors feature a dual tone black and beige combination. Also, the center console has a silver trim. There is a steering wheel with multi-function 3-spike ability and manual adjustability and an infotainment system with Bluetooth support.

The VM Ameo seems to have enough features to woo the customers. The high end variant of the vehicle has a rear view camera, cornering lights, front center armrest, rear AC vent, rain sensing wipers, cruise control, and automatic AC. The ABS, auto dimming internal mirror, MirrorLink entertainment system and dual front airbags are common to all the variants.

On the engine front, the VM Ameo has a 1.5 litre TDI diesel engine with a 7-speed DSG or 5-speed manual gearbox. The petrol variant has a 1.2 litre 3-cylinder MPI engine with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
