Microsoft launching first dual SIM Windows Phone, Apple to launch cheaper iPhone 5C

May 12, 2014: Microsoft is expected to launch the dual SIM Nokia Lumia model 630 in Indian market today. The company has sent invitation letters out to the media on the launch. This will be the first dual SIM Windows phone model available in the Indian market. The launch letter has mentioned three keywords to introduce the new model – fast, precise and powerful. The price of this new model is expected to be around Rs 10,000. The device has 8GB internal memory and comes with a 5 MP camera with panoramic photo capture option.

In another development Apple is gearing up to launch a cheaper 8GB version of their latest iPhone 5C model to lure up their customer base in India. It will come at a base price of Rs 35,000 and the company plan to penetrate the high end phone segment at a price range of Rs 30 to 40K which is currently dominated by Samsung and Sony. It may be recalled that Apple has a lower 2.4% market share in India compared to 38% market share of its competitor Samsung.
