Nokia which was the undisputed the market leader in India in the last decade has lost a whole lot of ground to players like Samsung, LG, Micromax, Karbonn etc. In the world market also in the smart phone category it has lost market share to Apple and Samsung. Nokia has recently announced the launch of new series “Asha” in India which in local parlance means hope. This phone is particularly targeted towards the emerging markets and is priced between Rs.4, 100 and Rs.8, 000. The whole idea of launching this new series phone is to enhance connectivity among people by enabling them to connect to internet from their mobile devices. With the 3G being rolled out in India and improved connectivity Nokia is sure that it will be able to cover some lost ground in the process.
