Sahara India enters consumer retail market

Aug 14, 2012: Subrata-Roy promoted Sahara Group has announced its plans to enter into the consumer product retail segment. As per the company sources, they will target to sell 800-odd products through ‘Sahara Q Shops’. They are planning to invest Rs 3,000 crore initially in setting up these retail shops. Explaining the business model, Roy said that Sahara Q Shop will have a total area of 330 sq ft and it would act a delivery centre for products in segments like staples, personal care, general merchandise and lifestyle. He said initial plan is to have 800 Q shops and then later expand to around 60,000 outlets across the country.
