Skoda Superb 2016 to go on sale in India on February 23

The third generation model of the Skoda Superb is likely to go on sale in the country on February 23, claim multiple reports. However, the company is yet to confirm the date as it has revealed that the vehicle will be released sometime in the last week of this month.

This new model of Skoda is the second product to feature the latest design language followed by Skoda India. Well, the first one to feature this kind of design is Skoda Octavia.

The Skoda Superb is based on the MOB platform of Volkswagon Group and it shares almost 50 percent of the internals with the Volkswagen Passat B8 launched in the last year. The highlight is this variant of the vehicle is 75 kg lighter than its prequel despite the increase in its wheelbase by 80 mm and increase in its width of            47 mm and length by 28 mm.

When it comes to the premium features that are a part of the Skoda Superb’s third generation model, the flagship vehicle carries a slew of features such as the ones that are listed here. The vehicle has adaptive dampers with three driving modes, 18 inch alloy wheels, heated seats, power adjustable front seat along with lumbar and memory support, 8 inch Smartlink infotainment system, triple zone climate control, and a CANTON audio system.

The engine has been revised slightly to render better performance and fuel mileage. It features a 1.8 litre TSI petrol engine that can render 250 Nm torque and 180 PS power. It is teamed up with a 2.0 litre TDI motor that can render 400 Nm torque and 190 PS power. These aspects will be combined with a DSG transmission system, and a manual can be offered on the base model.

The Skoda Superb’s third generation model is like to be priced in the range between Rs 20 lakh and Rs 30 lakh. It will complete with the Toyota Camry with its features and pricing.
