Today’s world is completely turning out to be dependent on IT. IT plays a vital role in everyone’s lives. IT has just become quite indispensable. When taking about India specifically, IT has its own brand identity. There is a massive generation of employment seen in this sector due to which it still continues to be known as a net employment generator.

We have a lot of research agencies that have come out recently with  a lot of studies and reports on the performance of this industry. These updated reports have so far helped companies in making changes and carrying on work effectively and efficiently. One such report was released very recently by Gartner (technology researcher) which tried to predict the state of IT in 2013. Let’s check it out!

Globally speaking, spending for IT has been coming down as a result of which India Inc. has taken efforts in bringing in newer technology themes such as mobility, cloud, analytics and social media. According to Gartner, the spending on IT in India is expected to grow from 7.7% in 2013.

The senior vice- president and global head of Gartner,  Peter Sondergaard, recently said that,” India, like other emerging markets, continues to exercise strong momentum despite inflationary pressures and appreciation of local currencies, which are expected in rising economies.” Truly inspiring words right! Well, there is more on this.

He also adds that the firms in the Indian IT are massively growing because they see a growth in new verticals and sectors despite of the fact that in domestic and global markets the IT budgets have gone flat.

It is projected that the spending on telecommunication is the highest followed by IT hardware and services. In addition to this, in the Indian IT market, mobile phones will still continue to be in the fastest growing space.

A lot of CEO’s believe that IT will make a great contribution in the coming 10 years in their industries and therefore, are totally ready to raise the investment required in IT.

In a nutshell, Gartner makes a prediction. The prediction states that by 2015, 10 organizations will be found spending for the new technology themes such as-

  • For the sales force, 20% of the sales organisations will use iPads as a primary mobile platform.
  • About $1 billion will be spending on social media.
  • Chief data officers will be hired by 30% of organisations
  • For business process services, the cloud market will double in size.

The above mentioned factors are some of the mere predictions that Gartner has made so far. Will the prediction happen as made? Will better changes occur than expected? The wait is worth a watch!
