This desire is reflected in the data: while 41% feel pressured to be constantly active on dating apps, many are now seeking calmer, more curated ways to connect, prioritising shared interests, meaningful vibes, and authentic interactions over constant connections
Nearly 44% of users surveyed say they wish dating apps offered a more “easy and chill” environment. The call for realness is clear: 41% say they would feel less pressure if their Crushes were based on shared interests or lifestyles, while 27% say more thoughtfully tailored connections would make the process easier.
So what’s helping singles cope? happn’s curated Crushes- based on shared interests, locations, or even music – are easing first-text anxiety for 42% of users. Music especially stands out, with 74% of Indian singles saying it helps spark conversations. A playful question like “What’s the first song on your concert survival playlist?” can break the ice instantly. These vibe-led profiles make connections feel more natural, with 40% feeling more comfortable starting a chat.
The appetite for slower, more tailored dating experiences is especially strong when it comes to recommendations. 56% of users say they’d enjoy receiving daily curated profiles based on their interests, while only 20% prefer to browse entirely at their own pace. Meanwhile, 15% say they’d like more encouragement for slower-paced conversations, and 16% would prefer a platform with less emphasis on looks.
