Akasa Air collaborates with uppercase on eco-friendly travel gear for cabin crew

Gear customised with design inputs from the crew

National, 24 July 2025 – Akasa Air, India’s fastest-growing airline, and uppercase, India’s only made-in India lifestyle brand offering eco-friendly baggage solutions, have come together to launch a custom designed cabin stroller and tote bag exclusively for Akasa Air’s cabin crew.

This partnership brings together two homegrown Indian brands that share a common ethos of conscious  innovation, employee-centric thinking, and a design-first approach rooted in sustainability.

This initiative underscores both companies’ deep commitment to reimagining their respective industries  through thoughtful, functional, and responsible products. Akasa Air continues to lead with progressive,  employee-first choices in aviation, and uppercase brings its expertise in modern, sustainable travel gear.  Together, they have created an offering that puts crew comfort, convenience and smart design at the  forefront, aligned with a shared mission of conscious and responsible growth.

Exclusively designed for Akasa Air’s cabin crew, the custom line by uppercase was developed with direct  input from crew members, to meet the unique demands of frequent flying. The cabin stroller features a  hard-shell exterior in Akasa’s signature colours, dual wheels for sturdy & smooth mobility, TSA-approved  locks, and smart compartments for shoes, laundry, and essentials. It is paired with a matching tote bag that  fits securely on top, offering additional storage and structure for daily crew use.

Sustainability is central to this collaboration. uppercase has manufactured the bags using RCS-certified  recycled materials and designed to lower carbon footprint. This approach reflects both brands’ commitment  to responsible design and to making sustainability an integral part of everyday utility, without compromising  functionality or style.

Commenting on the initiative, Belson Coutinho, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer, Akasa Air,  said, “We’re thrilled to partner with uppercase to introduce this new, custom-designed travel gear for our  cabin crew. This initiative truly reflects our deep commitment to employee centricity. We’ve listened to our  crew’s needs and incorporated their inputs to ensure the bags are not only incredibly convenient and  functional for their demanding roles, but also exude style and even a touch of fun.”

Coutinho further added “It’s about empowering our crew with high-quality, sustainable gear that makes their  journey comfortable and enjoyable, aligning perfectly with our progressive, employee-first approach at  Akasa Air.”

Commenting on the initiative, Sudip Ghose, Founder and Managing Director, uppercase, said, “At  uppercase, we believe that great design must serve both purpose and people. This collaboration with Akasa  Air was a natural fit with both brands being young, future-facing, and driven by values of sustainability and  innovation. The luggage was custom-designed in close partnership with the airline’s crew, with every detail  tailored to their needs and proudly made in India.”

The newly designed, 100% made in India and eco-friendly cabin luggage will now become an integral part  of Akasa Air’s crew experience – supporting their journeys with functionality, convenience and a shared  vision for a more sustainable planet. This collaboration marks one of many initiatives under an ongoing  partnership between Akasa Air and uppercase, aligned with a long-term strategy to enhance customer engagement and elevate travel experience.
