“Compensation: Purpose & Joy”: Mygate CEO Abhishek Kumar Clarifies Intent Behind Zero Pay CEO Job Post

Bengaluru, October 29, 2025: Mygate, India’s leading community management app, has announced one of the most unusual job openings of the year — it’s hiring for the role of CEO. The catch? There’s no salary, just a lot of purpose.

In a recent LinkedIn post, Mygate Co-founder & CEO Abhishek Kumar invited applications for a position that demanded “a strong leader with infinite patience, empathy, and the ability to get things done.” The post went on to describe the ideal candidate as someone thick-skinned, calm under criticism, part call-centre executive, part event manager — and available most weekends.

The internet was quick to speculate, but the reveal came soon after through a brand film: the CEO isn’t for Mygate. It’s for the countless housing societies across India — and stands for Chief Everything Officer

The film turns the spotlight on the Resident Welfare Association (RWA) or Management Committee members — the real people who keep gated communities running. They’re the ones ensuring maintenance gets paid, security runs smoothly, and festivals are celebrated.

However, they’re also the ones residents love to question. The RWA often face skepticism — seen as too strict, too bureaucratic, or simply too involved. But Mygate’s campaign reminds people that behind those circulars, committee meetings, and rulebook reminders are individuals volunteering their evenings and weekends to hold the chaos together.

Through humour and empathy, Mygate draws attention to the complexity of community living — where everyone has an opinion, but few step forward to take responsibility. The campaign reminds residents that behind every late-night complaint or endless dispute, there’s an ordinary person managing extraordinary chaos, and for no pay or appreciation.

Speaking about the initiative, Abhishek Kumar, Co-founder & CEO, Mygate, said: “Everyone has their qualms about the RWA, and thinks they can do the job better — and the person with the most amount of criticism is often the last to volunteer. This campaign is our way of acknowledging the people who actually put in the work. They may not be perfect, but they keep our communities together. They are, in every sense, the Chief Everything Officers of our societies.”
