La Roche-Posay debuts in India as part of L’Oréal’s expanding Dermatological Beauty Division

Built on 50 years of dermatologist-led innovation, La Roche-Posay brings its life-changing skincare solutions to India.

India, 4 November 2025: L’Oréal India today announced the launch of La Roche-Posay (LRP), the No. 1 dermatologist-recommended skincare brand in the world, marking a significant expansion of its dermo cosmetics portfolio under the L’Oréal Dermatological Beauty division (LDB) in the country.

The portfolio features four globally renowned products: Mela B3 Serum, formulated with Melasyl™, a patented molecule clinically proven to visibly reduce persistent dark spots and melasma across all skin tones; Anthelios, delivering advanced broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection with a lightweight, non-comedogenic formulation designed for sensitive skin; Cicaplast, which soothes and repairs compromised/irritated skin to support barrier recovery; and Effaclar, expertly developed to target acne-prone skin by unclogging pores and reducing blemishes, each designed to enhance skin health and improve quality of life.

La Roche-Posay has been pioneering dermatology since 1975, working in close partnership with dermatologists to develop skincare solutions that soothe, restore, and strengthen even the most sensitive skin. Each product is formulated with La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water, naturally rich in selenium, known for its antioxidant and calming properties, helping skin recover its balance and comfort, even in challenging climatic conditions.

“The launch of La Roche-Posay in India marks an important milestone in our journey to advance dermatological beauty. For over 50 years, La Roche-Posay has pioneered next-generation solutions — leading with breakthrough formulations, technology, and services that set new standards in skincare. Every day, we drive dermatology forward by bringing together radical efficacy and profound human understanding, in close collaboration with the medical community. With La Roche-Posay’s legacy of life-changing dermatology, we are proud to bring the most advanced dermatological knowledge and innovation to India, empowering dermatologists and consumers to achieve healthier skin and better lives,” said Rami Itani, Director – L’Oréal Dermatological Beauty, L’Oréal India.

L’Oréal’s Dermatological Beauty Division entered the Indian market in 2023 with CeraVe, a skincare brand developed by dermatologists to address everyday skin health concerns.

India faces a high prevalence of hyperpigmentation and dark spots, such as melasma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, largely due to UV exposure and hormonal changes. The new Mela B3 Serum is powered by Melasyl™, a breakthrough molecule developed by L’Oréal’s Research & Innovation scientists after 18 years of research. Designed to address localized pigmentation issues that lead to age spots and post-acne marks, it helps target excess melanin production to visibly reduce dark spots and pigmentation. Clinically proven to reduce up to 90% cases of persistent dark spots, this serum offers a science-backed solution tailored specifically for Indian skin.

“La Roche-Posay represents a gold standard in dermatological skincare where efficacy meets tolerance. Its formulations, guided by decades of clinical research, offer science-backed solutions even for the most sensitive skin. The introduction of innovations like Melasyl™ marks a milestone in addressing pigmentation concerns prevalent in Indian skin. This launch truly empowers dermatologists to offer patients effective, safe, and personalized care rooted in scientific excellence,” said Dr. Jaishree Sharad, Internationally renowned Celebrated cosmetic dermatologist & Medical Director,  Skinfinitii Aesthetic & Laser Clinic, Mumbai

La Roche-Posay products are exclusively available in India through dermatologist clinics, Nykaa, Apollo 24X7 and pharmacy stores, ensuring targeted access for both consumers and healthcare professionals.

For 50 years, La Roche-Posay has been in the forefront of providing life-changing innovation, continuing its mission to pioneer next-generation solutions that are backed by science, recommended by dermatologists and reach even more people worldwide. In close collaboration with dermatologists, the brand continues to advance skincare science exploring breakthrough areas such as the skin’s microbiome and developing safe, effective formulations for all skin types.
