Hyderabad, 16 December, 2025: In an effort to contribute toward India’s goal of achieving non-fossil fuel electric power capacity by 2030 and to address the rising demand for skilled professionals in the green energy sector, Tata BlueScope Steel as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, has partnered with Tata STRIVE to train and upskill youth from Telangana.
Tata BlueScope Steel, a leading player in colour-coated steel, building products and construction solutions, along with Tata STRIVE—the skill development initiative of the Tata Community Initiatives Trust (TCIT), a public charitable trust established in 2014—has launched a dedicated skill development program for aspiring Solar PV Installers.
Launched in Hyderabad, the program is conducted in alignment with the Government of India’s Surya Mitra Program, which aims to prepare candidates for entrepreneurship and employment in the rapidly expanding solar energy ecosystem. Certified Surya Mitras will have access to diverse opportunities across installation, commissioning, operations, and maintenance roles in the solar power sector.
The training will be conducted at Venkatraopet and will continue until 31st March 2026, with the aim of training 40 individuals from across the state. The program will run for 12 weeks (10 weeks of classroom training and 2 weeks of On-the-Job Training), covering 516 hours of intensive learning.
This initiative aims to expand the pool of job-ready youth in renewable energy space, enhance life skills, and create sustainable livelihood opportunities across Telangana. The program also aligns with the broader objective of uplifting marginalized and underprivileged communities—especially women and youth—by bridging critical gaps in access to employability-focused skill development. Through this initiative, Tata STRIVE will ensure the holistic development of the youth by training them in soft and employability skills along with profound industry-relevant domain skills.
Speaking about the initiative, Ms. Priya Rajesh, Chief Marketing Officer, TBSPL, said,
“Our CSR initiatives focus on creating long-term, meaningful impact across education, social upliftment, employment, and the environment. This program reflects our purpose-driven approach to contributing toward sustainable progress and enabling communities through knowledge and skill-building.”
Mr. Vidhu Prakash, Associate Lead Partnerships, Tata STRIVE, emphasized the program’s alignment with national priorities and said, “Skill development programs, particularly in Green Sector, are playing a critical role in India’s development framework and are central to missions like Skill India Mission and Atmanirbhar Bharat. Our partnership with Tata BlueScope Steel, especially in a sunrise sector like solar, demonstrates how sustained collaboration can modernize vocational training and make it more relevant to today’s industry needs.”
