Chennai, 17th December 2025: GIRI, India’s leading omnichannel retailer for spiritual and cultural products, announced the release of its four significant books featuring the compositions of Madurai Sri G. S. Mani. The books — Thennavan Isai Thamizh, Rajapoojita Lavanyamu, Rajapoojita Svarnam, and Jatisvarams, have been compiled, notated and authored by Dr Usha Prasad and published under the GIRI Publication House. The book launch ceremony was held at the Lakshmi Giri Convention Hall, Mylapore.
The release was honoured by the presence of legendary figures who gathered to celebrate this significant addition to Carnatic literature. The four books were formally released by the Chief Guest, Padma Bhushan Awardee & Sangita Kalanidhi Shri T. V. Gopalakrishnan. The event was attended by several eminent personalities, including Padma Shri and Sangita Kalanidhi A. Kanyakumari, Tamil scholar and writer Va. Ve. Subrahmaniam, veena exponent Dr R. S. Jayalakshmi, music composer Vidyasagar, and filmmaker Rajiv Menon.
Dr Usha Prasad’s scholarly work provides a comprehensive and accessible guide to Sri G. S. Mani’s diverse repertoire. The publications meticulously detail compositions ranging from Tamil and Telugu compositions to complex instructional pieces like varnams, tillanas, and jatisvarams. The books are noted for their scholarly clarity and precise notation, making them indispensable resources for performers, students, and researchers.
