Mumbai, December 24, 2025: Nanavati Max Super Speciality Hospital proudly announced that Dr. Kaustav Talapatra, Senior Director, Radiation Oncology, has been nominated as the International Ambassador for the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO). Dr. Talapatra is among the first ambassadors to be chosen from India, marking a significant milestone in India’s growing leadership in advanced, evidence-based cancer care.
The nomination establishes a strategic bridge between ASTRO and the Association of Radiation Oncologists of India (AROI). In his new role, Dr. Talapatra, will lead efforts to expand joint academic initiatives, foster international exchange and fellowship programmes, and create structured learning pathways for young radiation oncologists across the country.

Dr. Talapatra has been a pivotal figure in bringing global oncology standards to India over the past decade. He was involved in launching ‘Best of ASTRO’ in India—a premier academic resource that provides Indian practitioners access to the top research presented at the annual ASTRO conference in the United States.
In a special message, Dr. Vivek Kavadi, CEO of ASTRO, noted that the ambassador programme marks the beginning of a significant new chapter of cooperation between ASTRO and AROI, with the potential to profoundly enhance oncology education and clinical practice in India.
