Mumbai | January 2026: Fanmeet, an audience-led live experience format produced and curated by storyteller Laksh Maheshwari, hosted a Delhi Belly Fanmeet at Veda Kunba Theatre in Mumbai, bringing together fans and the film’s creators in a structured post-release engagement model designed to extend a film’s cultural relevance beyond its release cycle.
Over the last 12 months, Fanmeet has hosted 10+ ticketed experiences across Mumbai and Delhi, centred around cult Hindi films including Tamasha, Laila Majnu, Taare Zameen Par, Raanjhanaa, and Delhi Belly. The Delhi Belly edition saw 500+ fans in attendance, reflecting sustained audience demand for film-led community experiences years after release.
The Delhi Belly Fanmeet featured Aamir Khan, Imran Khan, Vir Das, director Abhinay Deo, composer Ram Sampath, and writer Akshat Gupta, engaging directly with fans more than a decade after the film’s original release.
Unlike traditional promotional appearances tied to theatrical or OTT launches, Fanmeet operate as a post-release engagement layer, enabling creators to reconnect with audiences through curated storytelling, live interaction, and community participation rather than marketing-driven promotion. The format is audience-funded through ticketed experiences and has no brand or event sponsor, positioning fandom itself as the primary driver of the initiative.
“It’s not just about fans coming together, it’s about building a community which cultivates stories that we show to the makers. It’s a full circle. Let the fan community give back to the creators while being a creator itself,” said Laksh Maheshwari.
Having attended multiple Fanmeet, Aamir Khan remarked,
“Which one are we doing next?”
Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, who has also attended earlier Fanmeet, previously described the format as “bringing a lot of love back to the heart of the makers.”
A highlight video from the Delhi Belly Fanmeet was scheduled to go live on this Sunday 11th January on the Lakshay Maheshwari YouTube channel, which has close to one million subscribers, offering a wider audience a look at the fan-led format and the interactions between fans and filmmakers.
The next Fanmeet, centred on Rockstar, is scheduled at Mumbai’s Tata Theatre, NCPA. Tickets for the event are already over 80% sold, signalling strong early demand ahead of the experience, which is expected to host over 500 fans.
