Bengaluru, 2 Feb: Vijay Punjabi clinched Men’s Title at the K. Damodar & Co 10th Karnataka State Tenpin Bowling Championship (Men), concluded at Amoeba, Church Street.
In the Finals of the stepladder round, played based on the cumulative pinfall of two games, second seed Vijay Punjabi conceded a lead of 24 pins in game 1 (190 – 214) against top seed Akaash Ashok Kumar. Vijay made a strong come back with 5 strikes in a row in Game 2 (217 – 179) to beat Akaash ( 407 – 393 ) by 14 pins to clinch the Title.
The road to the finals featured an intense stepladder round. In the opening match, 3rd seed Shanmugananda continued his impressive run to win against 4th seed Parvez Ahmed (406 – 369) by 37 pins .
In the second match of the stepladder round, in Game 1 Shanmuganandha ( 231 ) gained a comfortable lead of 42 pins over Vijay Punjabi (189.) In Game 2 Vijay Punjabi ( 238) overturned the table against Shanmuganandha. ( 136) to win ( 427–377) by 50 pins .
