Mumbai, June 22, 2026: Kangaroo Kids International Preschool, India’s No.1 Premium International Preschool brand, marked International Yoga Day 2026 by engaging over 7000+ children across 142 centres nationwide in yoga and mindfulness-based learning experiences designed to strengthen focus, self-awareness, and emotional regulation in early childhood.
As concerns around children’s screen exposure, distraction, and emotional regulation continue to grow, Kangaroo Kids International Preschool is using International Yoga Day 2026 to spotlight an often-overlooked aspect of early childhood development: attention span.
On the occasion of International Yoga Day, Kangaroo Kids conducted yoga and mindful movement sessions across its centres to help children develop concentration, self-awareness, and emotional balance from an early age.
Observed under this year’s International Yoga Day theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”, the initiative was built on a simple belief: healthy aging begins with healthy habits, and some of the most important habits are formed in the first five years of life.
Beyond learning yoga poses, the sessions encouraged children to practice mindful breathing, reflect on their emotions, interact with yoga instructors, and explore techniques that can help them focus and self-regulate during everyday situations. The program concluded with children expressing gratitude through handmade thank-you cards, reinforcing empathy and social-emotional learning alongside physical well-being. Through guided breathing exercises, age-appropriate yoga poses, and interactive activities such as “Yoga with Dice,” children explored techniques that support focus, body awareness, and self-regulation. The activities align with the Kangaroo Kids iCan Learning System, which integrates mindfulness, reflection, and experiential learning into everyday classroom experiences.
Commenting on the occasion, KVS Seshasai, CEO, Pre-K Division, Lighthouse Learning (Kangaroo Kids International Preschool), said: “In a world where children are growing up amidst constant stimulation and distractions, the ability to focus has become a foundational life skill. Attention is not merely an academic skill; it influences how children learn, build relationships, regulate emotions, and respond to challenges. The early years present a unique window to nurture these capabilities. Practices such as mindful breathing and yoga help children slow down, become aware of themselves, and build the self-regulation skills that support lifelong learning and wellbeing. At Kangaroo Kids, we believe that developing a child’s attention and emotional resilience is just as important as developing literacy and numeracy.”
Speaking about the initiative, Ms. Khusbu Agarwal, Centre Partner, Kangaroo Kids International Preschool Kankurgachi, said: “One of the most noticeable outcomes of mindful breathing and yoga sessions is the way children learn to settle themselves. We often see children becoming more aware of their emotions, listening more attentively, and participating more confidently after these activities. These are small moments, but they contribute significantly to a child’s overall development.”
As conversations around children’s wellbeing evolve beyond physical health and academic achievement, Kangaroo Kids believe greater attention must be given to the foundational skills that enable children to learn, adapt, and thrive. Through initiatives like International Yoga Day, the preschool continues to champion a holistic approach to early childhood education—one that nurtures healthy minds, healthy habits, and future-ready learners.
