Medals, Momentum, and Must-watch action: Sony Pictures Networks India acquires rights for the 2026 Glasgow Commonwealth Games

Mumbai, 16th July, 2026: Reaffirming its commitment to bringing world-class sporting events to audiences across the region, Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has secured the exclusive media rights for the 23rd Commonwealth Games, marking the return of the prestigious quadrennial event to its network.  The 2026 Commonwealth Games will take place in Glasgow, Scotland, from July 23 to August 2, 2026, and will be broadcast live on Sony Sports Network channels and streamed live on Sony LIV across the Indian subcontinent.

India heads into the Games on historic momentum. At the previous edition in Birmingham in 2022, India delivered great performance, securing 61 medals, including 22 gold, to finish fourth in the overall standings. The performance marked a significant milestone in the nation’s rise as a Commonwealth sporting powerhouse. With a new generation of champions emerging alongside seasoned stalwarts, expectations are higher than ever for another record-breaking campaign this year.

The Commonwealth Games mark a fresh chapter with a compact, athlete-focused format, uniting competitors from across the Commonwealth in ten sports alongside a record integrated Para sport programme featuring 47 medal events across six sports. The sports programme includes Athletics, Swimming, Artistic Gymnastics, Track Cycling, Netball, Weightlifting, Boxing, Judo, Bowls, and 3×3 Basketball.
