Thiruvananthapuram, July 27: Kerala Government is all set to roll out a hundred-day program to firmly position the state as a hub of Global Capability Centres (GCCs) with global outreach programmes and investment promotion drives, according to Industries, Commerce, IT & AI Minister Shri PK Kunhalikutty.
The Minister was addressing a round table with GCC leaders, consultants and ecosystem stakeholders, following the launch of GCC Feasibility Report at the ‘Kerala GCC Outlook 2026’ conclave at Technopark on Tuesday.
The IT department will implement an extensive outreach program and attend major global GCC events to market Kerala’s unique features including its talent pool, quality of life and the state’s emphasis on futuristic technology, Shri Kunhalikutty said.
A targeted investment promotion campaign with the support of the state’s tech diaspora is also being planned, he added.
Developing world class infrastructure for attracting GCCs by promoting private tech parks and facilitating PPP (Public-Private Partnership) projects in a hassle-free manners are vital components of the initiative. All investment promotion programs will be branded as ‘Future Corporation’, he noted.
As part of ensuring highly skilled work force available for the industry, a cutting-edge upskilling programme is also being launched in collaboration with institutions like ICT Academy of Kerala and Digital University of Kerala (DUK), the Minister said.
A Kerala GCC conclave and Residential GCC summit are also on the pipeline, he added.
The State IT department is committed to creating high quality employments matching the aspirations of the youths by giving greater prominence to new and emerging sectors, said Shri Seeram Samabasiva Rao IAS, Special Secretary, Department of Electronics & IT, Govt. of Kerala. These include AI, semiconductor design, and deep technology, he said.
The GCC leaders and stakeholders who spoke at the round table made several suggestions to ramp up the ecosystem. They emphasized the need to scaleup the infrastructure to world standards to integrate work-life balance, better connectivity and single-window clearance boards for GCC.
