HSBC India today unveiled its new branch in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, strengthening the bank’s presence and expanding its wealth services for affluent, high net worth, ultra-high net worth and non-resident Indians in the state.
Kerala’s economy is poised for significant transformation, with banks expected to play a key role in supporting growth through active participation in development initiatives and the financing of large-scale infrastructure. Ongoing tax administration reforms and plans to integrate ports, inland waterways, and logistics infrastructure could strengthen the state’s competitiveness and unlock new economic opportunities. At the same time, remittances from expatriate Keralites remain one of the strongest pillars of the economy, highlighting the state’s deep NRI strength1.
HSBC’s global network and international capabilities can support cross-border ambitions of businesses as well as globally minded individuals and families.
Commenting on the launch, Sandeep Batra, Head of International Wealth and Premier Banking, HSBC India, said, “Kerala has a strong base of globally connected families and entrepreneurs, backed by one of India’s most significant NRI communities. Our new Thiruvananthapuram branch reinforces HSBC’s long-term commitment to the state and expands access to our International Wealth and Premier Banking capabilities. We’re here to help affluent, HNW and UHNW clients and NRIs manage, grow and protect their wealth, supported by HSBC’s global network.”
With the addition of the new branch, HSBC India continues to expand its footprint in the country as it builds out its wealth proposition for clients across International Wealth and Premier Banking, alongside its Corporate and Institutional Banking franchise. HSBC has maintained a strong presence in India for over 170 years, supporting customers in their financial journeys both locally and globally.
Post receiving approval to open 20 new branches in January 2025, HSBC India so far has opened branches in Amritsar, Indore, Vadodara, Lucknow, Nagpur and Surat. Further, HSBC India plans to open branches in Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Dehradun, Faridabad, Jalandhar, Kanpur, Ludhiana, Mysuru, Nashik, Navi Mumbai, Patna, Rajkot and Vishakhapatnam, as part of the expansion plan.
