Waterproofers Association of India Launches Delhi-NCR Chapter

Pan-India expansion to curb multi-crore leakage losses and enforce strict technical standards

New Delhi, India, 28 August 2026: The Waterproofers Association of India (WAI), India’s apex body for Waterproofers has announced the launch of its Delhi-NCR Chapter as a regional hub for certified technical education, professional networking, and industry standardisation. The Delhi-NCR Chapter will serve as a blueprint for WAI’s rapid nationwide rollout, aimed at enforcing strict quality protocols and reducing multi-crore losses from structural leakage across the country.

WAI, was founded to transform waterproofing from a fragmented, unorganised trade into a specialised engineering discipline. With active chapters already established in Pune, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad, the association has announced an ambitious roadmap to expand into Mumbai, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Ahmedabad, and Jaipur this year – effectively building a unified national framework to enforce quality protocols and reduce structural water damage.

Mr. Sandeep Chaudhry, President, Waterproofers Association of India, said “Waterproofing can no longer be treated as a reactive, low-priority repair activity. In an era of high-rise developments and deep underground transit networks, scientific waterproofing is a non-negotiable cornerstone of structural asset protection. Through our expanding regional footprint, WAI is bringing together architects, developers, material manufacturers, and specialized contractors. Our core mandate is to eliminate sub-standard, non-engineered practices and enforce strict quality protocols nationwide.”

The launch event featured a 90-minute technical masterclass on Injection Grouting – Materials, Methodology & Specifications, conducted by Mr. Nayan Bhuva, Founder & Managing Director, Colossus Building Solutions. The session offered advanced engineering solutions for high-risk monsoon vulnerabilities, including deep basement leakage and structural water ingress.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Parveen Jain, President, NAREDCO, as Chief Guest, and Ar. Ashish Gupta, Chairperson, Northern Chapter, Indian Institute of Architects (IIA), who delivered the keynote address. Their participation highlighted the growing alignment between waterproofing professionals and India’s leading construction and architectural institutions, signaling a shift toward integrating advanced moisture-protection workflows into the design and planning stages of tier-1 projects.

Going forward, the Delhi-NCR Chapter will drive certified training programmes, collaborative workshops, and technical knowledge exchanges. WAI’s targeted national intervention aims to reduce long-term maintenance costs, extend building life cycles, and safeguard public and private investments across India’s rapidly evolving urban landscapes.
