New Delhi, September 07th, 2026: Krishna Defence and Allied Industries Ltd (KDAIL) has exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding with Belgium-based Pitagone. The MoU was exchanged during the India-Belgium Defence CEOs Roundtable and B2B Meetings, held in New Delhi on 3 September 2026, and was addressed by Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Sanjay Seth alongside Belgium’s Minister of Defence & Foreign Trade, Mr Theo Francken. Representatives from Belgian industry, the Confederation of Indian Industry and the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers were present.
Pitagone was one of several Belgian companies to sign agreements with Indian counterparts that day, showing how quickly co-development and co-production ties between the two countries’ defence sectors are picking up pace. The timing wasn’t incidental: Belgian Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Bart De Wever was in India from 2 to 4 September 2026 on an official visit at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s invitation, built around defence, trade, technology and the India-EU Free Trade Agreement.
Officials at the roundtable pointed to cyber security, AI-enabled unmanned systems, underwater domain vehicles and complex weapon systems as areas where India and Belgium could work together, with platforms like iDEX and ADITI already drawing start-ups and MSMEs into that effort.
“This partnership reflects our commitment to strengthening India’s indigenous defence capabilities in line with the vision of Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat,” said Mr. Ankur Shah, Managing Director, Krishna Defence and Allied Industries Ltd. “Bringing together Pitagone’s expertise with our manufacturing capabilities gives us a strong platform to build more self-reliant defence solutions for the country.”

The deal lands at a good moment for India’s defence manufacturing sector. Production hit a record ₹1.78 lakh crore in FY2025-26, up 15.6% on the year before. Shri Sanjay Seth, addressing the roundtable, noted that the country’s defence industrial base now runs across Defence PSUs, a growing private sector, and more than 16,000 MSMEs, and that FDI in defence has been opened up further, to 74% under the automatic route and 100% through the government route, specifically to draw in partnerships around niche technologies.
For KDAIL, working with Pitagone fits into a longer-term push to deepen its international ties and get more involved in global defence ecosystems, building on capabilities it already has across naval, land and homeland security work.
