Mumbai, October 22, 2026: BHIM Payments App, India’s homegrown payment app developed by NPCI BHIM, is spreading the light of festive celebrations with the third edition of its ‘Meethi Diwali’ campaign. On every 7th transaction made by a user on the app between October 19 and November 8, BHIM Payments App will contribute towards providing school kits to children in need of learning support.
For this campaign, BHIM App has partnered with Goonj, a civic and developmental organisation known for its long-standing pan India dignity-led initiatives across education, community development, and disaster relief. The campaign encourages consumers to choose BHIM App for their everyday transactions and become part of a collective effort to put essential learning materials within the reach of more children.

The joy of Diwali lies in its moments of togetherness, its promise of new beginnings and the happiness that grows when the celebrations go beyond our own. This year, BHIM App is extending that warmth to classrooms, where access to something as simple as a school kit can make a significant impact on the lives of underprivileged children. The initiative reflects BHIM App’s commitment to making digital payments a part of everyday life while creating opportunities for meaningful impact. It also reinforces the idea behind Bharat Ka Apna Payments App, that a simple, familiar action can contribute to something bigger, making the spirit of Diwali reach a little further.
Commenting on the initiative, Gaurav Kochhar, Chief of Business, NPCI BHIM, said, “Diwali reminds us that the true joy of a celebration lies in the happiness it brings to others. Through ‘Meethi Diwali 2026’, we want to extend that joy a little further by connecting something as simple as digital payment with something as meaningful as a child’s education. Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow and dream of a brighter future. Our partnership with Goonj brings this belief to life, turning everyday transactions on BHIM App into an opportunity to support children with essential learning materials. As Bharat Ka Apna Payments App, we believe that when technology is built around people, even small actions can help create a meaningful difference.”
Anshu Gupta, Founder, Executive Director, Goonj, said, “Our association with BHIM App is a meaningful step in connecting the reach of everyday technology with conscious citizen participation. We value BHIM App’s initiative to turn routine transactions into tangible support, ensuring that children receive essential learning resources with dignity.”
Mehul Gupta, Co-Founder & CEO, SoCheers, said, “There is something very Indian about the idea that a celebration is never quite complete until you’ve shared a little of it with someone else. With #MeethiDiwali, we found ourselves asking two simple questions: how do we take the spirit of giving beyond the festive season, and how can something as simple as a digital transaction make a difference in someone’s life? In a world where so much of our lives now plays out on our phones, we saw an opportunity to make an everyday habit count for something beyond the purchase itself.”
Through ‘Meethi Diwali 2026’, BHIM App continues its annual festive initiative by connecting digital payments with a cause that extends beyond the festive season.
