The line-up included tricolour stoles and dupattas, national flags, badges, caps, and wristbands.
A total of 45% more tricolour stoles and dupattas, ranging from 1 to 7 meters in length, were sold compared to last year’s Independence Day sales in this category. Demand for National flags in various sizes surged by 35%, with the combined length of flags sold equating to the height of 16.83 times of an Eiffel Tower. Additionally, tricolour badges and wristbands saw an increase of 51%, reflecting the growing enthusiasm for symbolic patriotic accessories. These were boosted by the speed and convenience of 10-minute doorstep delivery that allowed customers to join in celebrations without delay.
Compared to last year, bigbasket witnessed a 42% increase in patriotic merchandise sales. Notably, the volume of tricolour stoles sold by mid-day on Independence Day exceeded the total sales for the same product category over the entire day last year.
During the Independence Day period, bigbasket also saw a surge in electronics sales, most notably offering the iPhone 16 (128 GB) at an unprecedented price of ₹67,990, marking the lowest retail price for the model across India ahead of the anticipated iPhone 17 launch. This reduction from its original retail price of ₹79,900 delivered approximately 15% savings to eager buyers. Moreover, customers were delighted by the opportunity to receive the device within just 13 minutes of placing the order on bigbasket
