Chennai Airport’s Digital Media Emerges as a Preferred Destination for Leading Brands

Renowned as one of the most innovative airports in the region, Chennai has become a launchpad for creative, out-of-the-box campaigns.

Chennai International Airport, a key aviation hub in southern India, has rapidly established itself as a high-impact advertising destination for national, international, and regional brands. In under a year, the airport managed by Times OOH has hosted several long-term campaigns across diverse categories, including Automobiles (Apollo Tyres, Kia, Honda), BFSI (LIC, NPCI, Canara Bank), Fashion & Lifestyle (Kalyan Jewellers, Malabar Gold), Retail (Nalli, Poorvika), Handsets (Samsung, Google Pixel), IT (Zoho, Intel, HP), Real Estate (Damac, Casagrand), and Education (SRM University, PSG College).

Renowned as one of the most innovative airports in the region, Chennai has become a launchpad for creative, out-of-the-box campaigns. Notable examples include Apollo Tyres and Men of Platinum, whose recent activations have set new benchmarks for brand storytelling in an airport environment.

Multiple factors contribute to Chennai Airport’s growing appeal for market-leading advertisers. With an impressive annual footfall of 2.24 crore passengers, it ranks as the busiest airport in Tamil Nadu and the fifth busiest nationally.

When combined with Times OOH’s media presence at Coimbatore and Trichy Airports, brands gain access to 94% of Tamil Nadu’s air travellers, representing a combined annual reach of 2.76 crore passengers. This regional dominance makes Chennai Airport an unmatched platform for targeted brand engagement.

Additionally, Chennai Airport addresses a long-standing gap in premium outdoor advertising within the city. Despite Chennai being one of India’s top five consumer markets, brands have historically faced challenges in securing high-quality, clutter-free advertising avenues. As the primary gateway to Tamil Nadu and South India, the airport offers advertisers a strategic platform to engage affluent, high-intent audiences in a captive environment.

The airport’s revamped terminals now feature Marquee Media; an exclusive suite of large-format digital assets designed to captivate audiences and elevate brand presence to global standards.

At the check-in zones, Chennai Prime Spot introduces L-shaped, high-resolution video walls across Terminals T1 and T4. These formats deliver 360° visibility with synchronised content, ensuring strong recall at one of the airport’s most critical passenger touchpoints.

In the Security Hold Areas (SHA), the Digital Arcade stands as a breakthrough in Indian airport advertising. Positioned above boarding gates, this panoramic setup features four U-shaped video walls, delivering three-sided visibility. Notably, it marks the introduction of India’s first-ever hardware capable of supporting full anamorphic 3D content transforming idle dwell time into an immersive brand experience through segmented, dynamic displays.

Additionally, Discover, a cluster of six floating video walls positioned above frisking zones, offers synchronised storytelling and complete terminal coverage delivering cinematic visual dominance during moments of heightened passenger attention.

These pioneering innovations position Chennai International Airport as a leader in the digital transformation of Indian airport advertising, providing brands with unprecedented access to premium audiences through world-class, technologically advanced formats.

“Airports are premium destinations in themselves, and they deserve to be continually elevated to unlock their full branding potential. That’s why we have invested in enhancing our digital media offerings not just in aesthetics, but also in cutting-edge technology. With the launch of India’s first-ever Anamorphic-Ready Digital Screens, we’re witnessing significant interest from leading national and global brands. These formats not only elevate brand stature and storytelling but also optimise hardware investments through intelligent design. Today, the digital media suite at Chennai Airport rivals global standards, making it a preferred choice for future-focused advertisers,” shares Sumit Chadha, Business Head, Times OOH.
