Chevron ENGINE and Pi Jam Foundation Inaugurate STEM Labs in Bengaluru Government Schools

Bengaluru, November 24, 2025 — Chevron ENGINE (Engineering and Innovation Excellence center), in collaboration with the NGO Pi Jam Foundation, has inaugurated new STEM (Science, Engineering, Technology, and Mathematics) Labs in six government schools across Bengaluru. This initiative impacts over 1,300 students from Grades 3 through 8.

The launch event was held at Government Higher Primary School (GHPS) Parappana Agrahara and Government Higher Primary School Rayasandra. The labs were formally inaugurated by Dr. Akshay Sahni, Country Head of Chevron India, alongside the respective school headmistresses and Shoaib Dar, CEO and co-founder of Pi Jam Foundation. The ceremony witnessed enthusiastic participation from school HMs of GHPS Parappana Agrahara Mrs. Bhavitha M S, and GHPS Rayasandra, Mrs. Venkateshamma K, school teachers, parents, and students.

Chevron ENGINE set up these labs as part of its commitment to bridging the opportunity gap and empowering students with critical STEM skills. The STEM Labs will serve as creative hubs where students learn coding, AI, and physical computing through hands on projects. Equipped with tools for science, math, and digital skills, these labs ensure equal access to modern learning for government school students.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Akshay Sahni said, “At Chevron, we believe our business thrives when people and communities thrive. This is just the beginning of a broader vision to empower communities through education and technology. Together, we’re building stronger communities and driving progress, impact, and lasting value.”

Mr. Shoaib Dar, CEO and co-founder of Pi Jam Foundation, highlighted the transformative potential of experiential learning. “These labs will enable students to design prototypes, develop meaningful projects, and apply technology to solve real-world problems. Our goal is to nurture creativity and critical thinking,” he said.

Teachers and parents welcomed the effort, noting that the labs will inspire curiosity in STEM subjects and boost students’ confidence. The labs are now operational and will be integrated into regular school hours to enhance classroom learning. The program will culminate in an annual student-led Hackathon and Innovation Showcase, where learners will present prototypes, ideas, and AI-powered solutions to peers, educators, and the wider community—celebrating learning that is hands-on, meaningful, and future-facing.
