Mumbai, India – September 19, 2025 – At Supa San, the izakaya isn’t just a place to eat—it’s an invitation to experience Japan’s mastery of art, culture, and food through the eyes of a fictional manga superfan, our very own Supa (Super) San. Bringing this playful spirit to life, Supa San now introduces Ekiben and Bentos for the very first time in Mumbai, available from 12 pm to 7 pm, Monday to Friday, at its BKC outpost.
Rooted in Japan’s everyday food culture, these thoughtfully crafted boxes are designed to make meals fun, flavorful, and effortless—perfect for the city’s fast-paced corporate hub while staying true to the izakaya’s manga-inspired energy. While Bento is already beloved worldwide as Japan’s iconic single-portion boxed meal, Supa San takes things a step further by debuting Ekiben in Mumbai. Short for eki (station) and ben (bento), Ekiben is Japan’s most delightful travel companion—smaller, travel-friendly boxes sold at railway stations across Japan, designed to be eaten on the go. With Supa San’s twist, Ekiben transforms the everyday into a mini culinary adventure right here in the city.
The menu offers a vibrant selection, including the Yasai Bento (₹850), a vegetarian option with shiro gohan, kakiage sushi, spicy sauce, agedashi tofu, and kakiage fried, and the Kaisen Bento (₹1200), a non-vegetarian delight with shiro gohan, tori namban, ebi katsu salmon sushi, spicy sauce, and agedashi tofu. The Yasai Ekiben (₹690) features shiro gohan, stir-fried vegetables, and yasai bao, while the Niku Ekiben (₹850) includes shiro gohan, pork, and vegetables with buta bao.
To round out this Japanese lunch experience, Supa San is also launching a refreshing new lineup of Matcha and Hojicha specials.Hojicha is a traditional Japanese green tea that stands apart for its unique roasting process, which lends it a warm, nutty, and slightly smoky flavor. Unlike regular green tea, it has a naturally sweet, earthy profile with very low bitterness. Hojicha has become a modern favorite in lattes and desserts while staying rooted in Japan’s tea culture.
Guests can sip on the Classic Iced Matcha Latte (₹450), or opt for the Berry Matcha Latte (₹450) that balances fruity strawberry with earthy matcha. The Setsuben Matcha Latte (₹450) brings floral notes of lavender and blue pea with matcha, while the Tropical Matcha Cloud (₹450) combines coconut water with creamy matcha for a refreshing twist. For tea lovers seeking depth, the Classic Iced Hojicha Latte (₹450) offers the roasted richness of hojicha, while the Miso Hojicha Latte (₹450) surprises with a savory-sweet blend of miso caramel and hojicha. Together, these drinks make a perfect companion to Supa San’s bentos and ekibens meal experience.
Sushi lovers can indulge in Supa San’s 32-piece Sushi Sets, available in both vegetarian (₹2500) with kakiage tempura, yasai futomaki, kinpira, and daiyo niku, and non-vegetarian (₹3200) with ebi katsu, aburi salmon to kani, chirashi futomaki, and inarizushi. To complete the feast, the Dessert Bento (₹1500) serves as a sweet “bonus chapter,” featuring chocolate basque cake, soufflé cheesecake, macaron, chocolate brittle, and ice cream. These will be served all day at Supa San for a dining experience
Beyond the food, Supa San has gone all out to make the packaging part of the story. Inspired by Japanese train lunch boxes, the ekiben and bento feature rip-off sleeves that ‘heat up’ with a pull of a thread, transforming every meal into an interactive ritual. Each box also hides two surprise “Easter eggs” for guests to discover, mirroring the sense of wonder built into Supa San’s manga-styled interiors.
