Mango Mania Grips Bharat: Flipkart Minutes Sees 5X Surge in Summer Sales

At Flipkart Minutes, we’re seeing how deeply seasonal preferences shape buying patterns across Bharat, with mangoes taking center stage this summer. The months of March and April saw a sharp spike in mango consumption, led by the 25–30 age group. Bengaluru, Mumbai, NCR, Pune, and Kolkata emerged as the top five cities with the highest mango sales, with Bengaluru recording the highest volume overall. This momentum is also mirrored in Tier 2 cities including Ahmedabad, Faridabad, Gandhinagar, and Lucknow, reflecting a strong pan-India seasonal trend. Popular varieties included Sindhura in Mumbai and Pune, Totapuri in Bangalore, Banganapalli in NCR, and Ratnagiri, Alphonso in Kolkata. Kesar and Alphonso emerged as the most searched varieties in April, with a significant surge in interest in mango drinks, ice creams, and raw mangoes.

Demand wasn’t just about fresh mangoes—mango-flavoured products across categories also saw a strong upswing during the March–April 2025 period. Mango drinks and ice creams grew 2X, pickles and chutneys rose by 1.2X, and dairy favourites like milkshakes, lassi, and yogurt saw a 1.4X increase in demand (compared to Jan–Feb 2025). Consumers showed clear intent too: over 35% returned for a repeat purchase within two weeks, and weekends during this period saw a 1.5X spike in mango orders. The highest single-day order came from a customer in Mumbai (39 pcs), while a Faridabad customer placed the largest monthly order at 76 pcs. Overall, this season the sale for mangoes have grown by 5X in both metro and non-metro cities in April compared to March, highlighting the widespread seasonal demand across geographies
