About the exhibition:
Salt Lines, the first solo exhibition in India by Hylozoic/Desires, excavates the lost archive of the Inland Customs Line — the 4,000-km barrier built under the East India Company and British Raj to enforce the Empire’s salt tax. Through interdisciplinary artworks that interweave archival research with speculative histories, the exhibition reflects on the hedge as both an architecture of extraction and a site of resistance, inviting viewers to consider the nature of memory, truth-telling, and the dualities embedded within colonial histories.
