WAE Achieves BIS Certification for its Drinking Water Cooler Portfolio Under IS 1475:2024

New Delhi, January 14th, 2026: WAE, an Indian enterprise specializing in sustainable drinking water and water management systems for institutional and commercial environments, today announced that its complete portfolio of drinking water coolers has been awarded certification by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) under IS 1475:2024.  This certification marks a significant milestone in WAE’s compliance framework and strengthens its readiness to serve infrastructure-led and regulation-driven deployments across India.

The BIS certification applies to all WAE drinking water cooler models with rated capacities ranging from above 10 litres per hour up to 150 litres per hour. IS 1475:2024 is India’s principal standard governing drinking water coolers and evaluates products across critical parameters including material safety, hygienic water contact surfaces, electrical protection, mechanical integrity, and operational reliability. The scope of certification is specifically limited to drinking water coolers and explicitly excludes systems incorporating hot water dispensing or reverse osmosis (RO) functionality.

Commenting on the certification, Mr. A Vikram Joshe, Founder & President, WAE stated, “Standards governing drinking water equipment are not procedural formalities; they are foundational instruments of public health protection, institutional trust, and system reliability. Securing BIS certification is therefore not merely a regulatory achievement, but an affirmation of our scientific and engineering approach to product development. This process required embedding compliance at the design and manufacturing stages rather than addressing it post-facto. It necessitated a comprehensive review of material science choices, component traceability, assembly protocols, and validation testing. The outcome is a manufacturing system where conformity to national standards is intrinsic, systematic, and repeatable.”

The BIS-certified portfolio is engineered for high-usage, high-reliability environments where continuous access to safe drinking water is a critical operational requirement. These include educational institutions, healthcare facilities, offices, industrial workplaces, public infrastructure, commercial establishments, and residential complexes, where equipment performance directly influences user safety and service continuity.

Further elaborating on the significance of certification, Mr. Joshe added, “When institutions deploy drinking water infrastructure, they assume responsibility for the health and wellbeing of large user populations on a daily basis. BIS certification provides an independent, third-party validation that a system conforms to nationally prescribed benchmarks for safety, hygiene, and performance. For institutional buyers and procurement professionals, this assurance is essential. For WAE, the certification represents both an obligation to maintain these standards over the product lifecycle and a clear signal of technical credibility in an increasingly discerning market.”

WAE’s BIS-certified drinking water cooler range is now available across its national distribution and service network. Detailed technical specifications, test reports, and certification documentation are available for institutional customers, consultants, and procurement authorities upon request.
