MTV and RepIndia Turn the Spotlight on Listening with Women’s Day Film

Over the years, more women have found a seat at the table in professional spaces. The question, however, is whether that seat also comes with the space to be heard.

This thought forms the starting point of MTV’s Women’s Day campaign this year. In collaboration with RepIndia, the brand has launched a digital film that draws attention to this dynamic that many women encounter in everyday workplace conversations.

Set within the familiar setting of a routine workplace video call, the film reflects the pace and rhythm of modern collaboration, where quick exchanges, overlapping reactions and fast-moving discussions can sometimes leave certain voices unheard.

The campaign draws from a reality echoed in workplace research as well. According to Deloitte’s Women @ Work 2024: A Global Outlook report, being interrupted or talked over during meetings remains one of the most commonly reported non-inclusive behaviours experienced by women in Indian workplaces. The insight informs the campaign’s central thought: “Women are speaking. Are you listening?”

“When we started thinking about Women’s Day, we realised the most powerful thing we could do was simply show a familiar moment. Being interrupted in conversations is something many women experience every day, especially at work. Instead of being preachy, we chose to present the situation as it is. Sometimes just holding up a mirror to reality is enough to start an important conversation”, said Neelanjan Dasgupta, National Creative Director, RepIndia.

Instead of approaching Women’s Day through a traditional celebratory narrative, the campaign focuses on the everyday realities that shape how conversations move forward. It highlights the difference between being present in a discussion and having the space to complete a thought.

The film has been released on MTV India’s Instagram handle (@mtvindia),  bringing the conversation into the digital spaces where workplace dialogue and cultural conversations increasingly unfold.
