March 2026: Newgen CSR is celebrating 10 years of its journey towards bringing sustainable growth with the community it is working in.
Newgen initiated its flagship CSR initiative – Newgen Digital Discovery Paathshala (NDDP) in 2016 based on the idea of the company’s MD that digital empowerment is the need of the hour and it will open various doors of opportunities for the less privileged children.
Under the umbrella of NDDP, we adopted two government girls’ senior secondary schools in the vicinity and developed state-of-the art digital labs where daily sessions helped the students gain knowledge and develop a self-learning habit through fun teaching methods. Every year, we continued working with over 3000 girl students from class 6th– 8th.
As COVID struck, the program mode switched to online, and I-pads and tabs were provided to ensure continuity of studies for the students. Realizing the need for mental health management, online sessions on balancing emotions were also conducted.
Post COVID, distribution of tabs continued and till date, we have provided over 3000 devices. The NDDP program adopted a hybrid model allowing us to reach a larger number of students and expand the thematic areas of the sessions. The NDDP students graduating from class 6th become a part of NDDP Alumni with whom we expanded the sessions’ themes and included career mentoring, peer leadership training, STEM to support aspects of holistic growth. Personality development sessions scaled up and English communication was included for all the NDDP grades, focusing on confidence-building and life skills. Educational scholarship support has been organised for NDDP students passing class 12th and going for higher education.
During the course of the program, we worked further to cater to one of the important stakeholders – the mothers of the students. This led to the initiation of community involvement vertical, and we started the Samarth Saarthi Samuh with the mothers of the NDDP students. In 2024, the establishment of a Skill Development Centre in Okhla expanded the program’s horizon to women empowerment through vocational training, digital literacy, financial management, and mental well-being. Currently, nearly 100 mothers are being trained.
The uniqueness of our programs lies in the fact that we customise and reinvent based on the feedback of the stakeholders and the need of the hour. This keeps the project relevant for the beneficiaries. We not only focus on the implementation of the activities, but planning, reporting and documenting has always been a critical part of each program as it helps to understand the best practices and work on the areas of improvement.
To expand the reach of Newgen CSR across the country, we have been in partnership with NGOs namely KHUSHII, KK Academy, Computer Shiksha and The Akshaya Patra Foundation that implement projects on remedial education, computer literacy, and nutrition. Further, professionals from IAm and Each One Feed One support to implement the mental health well-being, personality development and vocational training aspects of the NDDP program for girl child and women.
All the projects under Newgen’s CSR aegis aim to create a sustained, long-term impact to contribute to the nation’s development.
At last, I would like to mention that to make the programs a success, we have carefully chosen the team over years. The team members’ roles complement each other and each one’s empathy and passion keep the program rolling.
As we complete a decade and move ahead, we are committed to making an impact and support towards nation building.
