L’Oréal India Unveils Its Largest Beauty Skilling Centre and Socio-Economic Impact Report in the Presence of Union Minister of Industry & Commerce, Shri Piyush Goyal

• The newly inaugurated facility, part of L'Oréal's flagship Beauty for a Better Life skilling programme, spans 4,267 sq. ft. at CII's North Mumbai Skill Centre and is equipped to train an estimated 3,000 individuals annually

Mumbai, 8 June 2026 — L’Oréal India today announced the inauguration of its largest Beauty Skilling Centre,  developed in strategic partnership with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Operating under L’Oréal’s  flagship Beauty for a Better Life skilling programme, the centre represents a transformative investment in India’s  skilling ecosystem — empowering women from underserved communities with professional expertise, economic  independence, and pathways to sustainable livelihoods.

Spanning 4,267 sq. ft., the flagship facility is fully equipped to train 3,000 individuals annually in professional  hairdressing, makeup artistry, and beauty services. Working in collaboration with partner non-governmental  organizations (NGOs) and the salon industry, L’Oréal’s Beauty for a Better life programme provides world-class  professional training, career guidance, job placement support, and dedicated trainer development.

L’Oréal India Commits to ‘Skill India’ and ‘Make in India’

The newly inaugurated Beauty Skilling Centre is the latest milestone in L’Oréal India’s significant socio-economic  contribution over its 31-year history in the country. At the inauguration, L’Oréal India unveiled its first-ever Socio Economic Impact Study, revealing its deep integration into the Indian economy.

Conducted by Paris-based economic research consultancy Asterès using the Asterès Impact Model (MIA), the study  highlights:

  • The 1:39.5 Job Multiplier: Every single direct job at L’Oréal India supports 39.5 additional jobs across the  wider value chain, actively sustaining 90,500 jobs nationwide spanning logistics, packaging, raw material  sourcing, and retail.
  • Local Manufacturing Powerhouse: In perfect alignment with the Government of India’s “Make in India”  vision, 95% of L’Oréal products sold domestically are manufactured locally at its state-of-the-art facilities in  Chakan (Maharashtra) and Baddi (Himachal Pradesh).

  • Global Export Hub: L’Oréal’s Indian facilities serve as vital global manufacturing hubs, exporting finished  goods to 25 international markets.
  • Anchor of the Salon Economy: L’Oréal has been a key driver in building India’s €230 million (INR 2,000+  Crore) professional hairdressing ecosystem, where the company partners with over 54,000 salons  nationwide.

Proven Skilling Impact: A 25x Social Return on Investment

Over the last decade, L’Oréal has upskilled 3.3 million hairdressers and supported 42,000 women through its Beauty  for a Better Life program. Today, approximately 60% of top stylists in India are women—a testament to L’Oréal’s  commitment to diversity and gender equality.

  • Significant Social Return: According to an independent PwC Impact Study (2025), L’Oréal’s skilling initiatives  deliver an extraordinary 25x Social Return on Investment (SROI).
  • Uplifting Household Incomes: Beneficiaries of these programs report an average 44% increase in monthly  household income, moving entire families toward sustainable financial independence.
  • Broad-Scale Social Inclusion: Beyond economic contributions, L’Oréal has touched the lives of over 1.3  million Indians through its broader social initiatives focused on women’s education, social inclusion, and  community empowerment.

Aseem Kaushik, Non-Executive Chairman, L’Oréal India, noted: “Upskilling has always been central to  L’Oréal India’s vision of creating inclusive and sustainable impact. As India’s beauty industry continues to  evolve and expand, the demand for professionally trained talent is growing across services, retail and  entrepreneurship. Our new Beauty Skilling Centre reflects our commitment to equipping women with  industry-relevant skills, future-ready capabilities and access to meaningful career opportunities — while  contributing to the growth of India’s beauty economy.”

Jacques Lebel, Managing Director, L’Oréal India, added: “India stands at the forefront of the future of  beauty, powered by immense talent, creativity and aspiration. Through this skilling centre, we hope to  expand access to high-quality professional education, equip underserved women with industry-relevant  skills, and help nurture the next generation of beauty professionals and entrepreneurs who will shape the  growth of India’s beauty economy.”

As India emerges as one of the world’s fastest-growing beauty markets, L’Oréal India remains committed  to investing in talent, innovation, entrepreneurship and capability building that fuels the future of beauty  and India’s broader economic and social development.
