Havas Creative India Teams Up with Shayak Dady Roy for JBL’s Cinematic Bar 1300MK2 Film

The campaign marks the debut of independent production company East India Film Company

Mumbai, August 2026 – JBL India has unveiled its latest campaign for the Bar 1300MK2, its flagship home cinema system, with a cinematic launch film conceptualised by Havas Creative India and directed by filmmaker Shayak Dady Roy.

Moving beyond conventional product demonstrations, the film uses atmosphere, visual storytelling and sound to bring the idea of immersive home entertainment to life. The narrative puts the experience of premium sound at its centre, using a cinematic treatment to make the product an intrinsic part of the story.

The project also marks the debut of East India Film Company, an independent production company established with a focus on bringing cinematic ambition and craft to advertising and branded storytelling.

For Shayak Dady Roy, the film presented an opportunity to turn an inherently auditory experience into a visual narrative, using mood, pacing and cinematic craft to convey the emotional impact of immersive sound.

“The interesting challenge with this film was finding a visual language for something that is fundamentally experienced through sound. We wanted to create a world that made the audience feel the sense of immersion rather than simply demonstrate what the product can do. The brief gave us the opportunity to approach the film with a strong cinematic sensibility, while keeping JBL’s premium positioning at its core,” said Shayak Dady Roy, Director, East India Film Company.

“Working with Shayak on this has been outstanding. From the beginning, the ambition was to make something that did not feel like advertising at all. We wanted it to have that world-class OTT quality, where you could be watching a scene from a film, a show or even the trailer of an upcoming series and be completely drawn into that world. That authenticity is not easy to achieve, because advertising has a way of eventually looking like advertising.

Shayak understood that instinctively and brought a cinematic language to the film that made the storytelling feel real, immersive and beautifully crafted. The sound design was equally important.

We were not just showcasing a home cinema system, we were trying to create a sense of what the future of sound could feel like. Every detail, visually and sonically, had to pull you further into the experience. For me, that combination of cinematic storytelling and immersive sound is what makes this film special.” said Anupama Ramaswamy, MD & CCO, Havas Creative India.

The film combines atmospheric visuals with a cinematic treatment designed to reflect the immersive experience of the JBL Bar 1300MK2. By putting storytelling ahead of a conventional feature-led narrative, the campaign aims to make the audience experience the product rather than simply see it.

The campaign is part of JBL India’s integrated communication for the Bar 1300MK2 and has been rolled out across digital platforms.
