September 2026 | Lawyered, India’s roadside legal infrastructure platform for the mobility ecosystem, has appointed Mr. Surendra Srivastava to its Advisory Board as Advisor, Insurance and OEM Ecosystem. Mr. Srivastava recently hung up his boots with Maruti Suzuki after driving Maruti Suzuki’s Insurance distribution business for 25 years. He spearheaded the business as CEO and Principal Officer of Maruti Suzuki Insurance Broking Private Limited, the largest retail insurance broking entity in the country today.
The appointment strengthens Lawyered’s position at the intersection of insurance, OEM distribution, and vehicle compliance ecosystem the company’s platforms are built to serve. Lawyered currently covers over five million vehicles through LOTS247, India’s first roadside legal assistance platform, and ChallanPay, India’s largest challan discovery and resolution platform. Together, they have resolved over 3 lac legal matters for 800+ businesses and individual vehicle owners across India.
Mr. Srivastava’s career at Maruti Suzuki defined how motor insurance distribution works in India today. He led the creation of Maruti Suzuki’s Insurance distribution business from a greenfield initiative as corporate agency and subsequently transitioned it into the country’s largest retail insurance broking company. Mr. Srivastava passionately drove the transition from manual cover notes to fully digital insurance. He studied domestic and global motor insurance markets and ensured success through the critical de-tariffing of motor insurance in 2007. He also played a founding role in building several of Maruti Suzuki’s most rewarding verticals, including Maruti True Value, Maruti Finance, and the Maruti Driving Training School.
Beyond Maruti, Mr. Srivastava served on the guiding board of NSDL for insurance digitisation in India, on multiple IRDAI committees for policy formation & compliance, and co-chaired the Finance, Leasing and Insurance Group at the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).
As motor insurance shifts from point-of-purchase protection toward assistance-led value across the ownership lifecycle, the convergence between insurance distribution, legal assistance and the vehicle owner’s on-road experience is becoming a defining space. Lawyered operates precisely at this convergence. Mr. Srivastava’s guidance will be instrumental in embedding Lawyered’s platforms deeper into OEM channels, dealership networks, and insurance distribution partnerships.
