Kozhikode,09th September 2026: The second edition of the India VKC Kozhikode Marathon is set to take place on January 10, 2027, with a strong message against substance abuse. The official logo for the marathon was unveiled at a ceremony held near the Kozhikode Beach Open Stage.
The event was attended by Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala, VKC Mammed Koya, Chairman of India VKC, and senior Mathrubhumi officials, including P. V. Chandran, Chairman and Managing Editor, M V Shreyams Kumar, Managing Director and P. V. Nideesh, Joint Managing Editor.
The 2027 edition of the marathon will focus on raising awareness against drug abuse and supporting the government’s Operation Toofan campaign. The event’s message, “No to Drugs, Run for Life,” aims to encourage young people and the wider community to embrace a healthy and active lifestyle while staying away from substance abuse.
The flagship half marathon will begin at the scenic Kozhikode Beach and cover a 21.1- kilometre route, offering participants an opportunity to experience the city’s coastline and urban landscape. The event will also feature 10K and 5K Fun Run categories, catering to experienced runners as well as first-time participants and fitness enthusiasts.
With its combination of sport, community participation and social awareness, the marathon aims to make running a platform for promoting a healthier, drug-free society.

Speaking about the marathon, M V Shreyams Kumar, said “Running is not just about crossing a finish line; it is about choosing a healthier and more purposeful path in life.
