airpay marks 14 years and four-country scale with its first public brand campaign – Invisible

The film explores the everyday anxiety around payments, the people and moments behind them, and the invisible infrastructure that powers every transaction.

Sept 09, National: airpay, a digital payments platform, has released its first-ever brand campaign, marking 14 years of operations across India, the UAE, Tanzania and Zambia. The film, titled “Invisible,” tells the story of airpay’s journey and introduces audiences to the company behind the payment experiences, after more than a decade of quietly powering payments for businesses and consumers.

The payments ecosystem has evolved rapidly over the last decade, with digital transactions becoming an increasingly seamless part of everyday life. As the category has matured, payments marketing/messaging has largely centred on speed, disruption, convenience and seamless experiences. airpay’s debut brand campaign takes a different approach, turning the very absence of friction into its central idea. The insight behind the film is simple: payments are noticed most when they fail. For airpay, the real achievement over 14 years has given business owners one less thing to lose sleep over. Payments work quietly, reliably, consistently, so the people running these businesses can actually spend their attention on everything else that needs it.

“When we started, our priority was to build a business that earned trust through what it delivered, rather than how loudly it spoke about itself. Over the years, we’ve stayed focused on building and scaling that foundation across markets, and that approach has served us well. This campaign is an opportunity to share a little more of that journey with the people and businesses who have been part of it, and to mark an important chapter in where airpay is today,” said Kunal Jhunjhunwala, Founder & CEO, airpay.

Creatively, the film unfolds in four acts. It opens with the familiar anxiety of waiting for a payment to go through, then turns that tension on its head with a simple idea: being forgettable is an achievement.

The idea comes to life through a series of everyday payment moments. An international traveller checks out in his home currency, with no conversion confusion or hesitation. A mother pauses between a virtual meeting and the chaos of her children to pay school fees in seconds. A boutique owner watches her daily settlement arrive on time, without needing to make a follow-up call. These moments are deliberately ordinary, the kind of interactions that happen every day without a second thought. The film then pulls back to reveal the infrastructure quietly powering these seamless experiences, before closing with a restrained statement of airpay’s scale.

The campaign was conceptualised and created by ting, an integrated creative and digital agency whose recent work includes campaigns for brands such as Bosch, US Polo, Arrow, Lauritz Knudsen, MAC cosmetics among others.

“The interesting part of this brief was that we were working with a business that has spent years deliberately staying behind the scenes. We wanted audiences to recognise themselves in the film first and discover airpay along the way. That led us to build the story around a very ordinary human reaction, and then gradually reveal the scale of the infrastructure and people working behind” Aadil Mehta, Partner, Ting.

The film premiered on YouTube, with the campaign extending across OTT platforms and airpay’s four operating markets.
