Mumbai, September 10, 2026: The Fertiliser Association of India (FAI) today organized a high-level Fertiliser Industry Strategy Session in New Delhi, bringing together senior officials of leading fertiliser companies to deliberate on the sector’s long-term priorities, emerging challenges and opportunities in supporting India’s food and fertiliser security objectives.
The session provided a platform for government officials, industry leaders and experts to exchange views on the evolving operating environment for the fertiliser sector and identify strategic actions required to ensure sustainable growth and nutrient security for Indian agriculture. The programme also featured sector-specific deliberations covering Urea, Phosphatic & Potassic (P&K), Single Super Phosphate (SSP) and emerging fertiliser segments, enabling participants to identify priority issues and formulate recommendations for consideration by policymakers.
The session included presentations on the current industry landscape, key policy developments and future growth drivers. Participants also engaged in discussions on strengthening India’s fertiliser security, improving ease of doing business, enhancing domestic manufacturing capabilities, advancing innovation and promoting balanced nutrient management.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sankarasubramanian S, Chairman FAI, said, “The fertiliser industry has demonstrated remarkable resilience in ensuring nutrient availability to farmers despite a challenging operating environment. Going forward, sustained collaboration between industry and Government will be essential to strengthen India’s fertiliser security and support the sector’s long-term growth. As a key pillar of India’s food security, our collective focus must remain on improving nutrient-use efficiency, promoting balanced plant nutrition and advancing sustainable agricultural development.”
As part of the event, FAI also felicitated former Directors of the Association in recognition of their contributions to the development of the fertiliser industry and the growth of the Association.
