Acer India Aims to Grab 20 Percent of PC Market Share

The Taiwan based electronic giant Acer appears to be in plans to launch more devices in the segments such as consumer and small businesses. Acer is all geared up to enlarge its retail experience in India as it looks to achieve significant double-digit growth and 20 percent share in the country’s PC market.

As per Oliver Ahrens, President, Pan-Asia Pacific Business Operations, Acer, they are all set to utilize the complete portfolio of Acer offerings on mobile PC and AIOs (All-in-One).

The firm is said to develop its retail presence even in the rural areas with over 1 lakh people via sub-distributor networks. Ahrens added that they will invest the money and know how to improve their retail experience. It is claimed by him that they have underestimated the market capacity inIndiatill date. These plans were revealed by him in an interview in Bengaluru during his pioneer visit toIndia.

He added that the mid-term strategy of Acer is to maintain and defend the business in K-12, large enterprises and government segments. It will be expanded into the consumer and small office segments in the country.

AcerIndiais headquartered in Bengaluru and it operates through a network of more than 12,500 channel partners and around 200 retail partners that operate in over 160 cities and towns across the country. At present, Acer India has a market share of 12.9 percent and it stands at the fourth position in the PC market in the country. It lags behind HP with 25.5 percent, Dell with 22 percent and Lenovo with 16.5 percent of market share as per an IDC report.

In the next couple of years, Acer India appears to reach to 20 percent market inIndia. It is possible inIndiaas the developed markets have started growing sideways and hence, the country’s market is providing maximum potential for Acer, claimed the executive. Notably, Ahrens recently took over the position of President of the newly firmed Pan-Asia Pacific region.
