Advait Energy Transitions Signs BESPA with GUVNL for 150 MW / 300 MWh Standalone Battery Energy Storage Project in Gujarat

Ahmedabad, June 3, 2026: Advait Energy Transitions Limited (AETL), through its subsidiary Advait BESS Bhesaan Private Limited, has signed a Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement (BESPA) with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) for the development of a 150 MW / 300 MWh Standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Gujarat. The agreement was executed on June 1, 2026, following GUVNL’s tariff-based competitive bidding process under Phase VIII, supported by Viability Gap Funding (VGF) through the Power System Development Fund (PSDF).

The project will be developed in the vicinity of the 220 kV Bhesan AIS substation of Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation (GETCO) and will be designed to provide reliable, dispatchable energy storage capacity to support Gujarat’s evolving power infrastructure. Under the terms of the agreement, Advait BESS Bhesaan Private Limited will develop, own and operate the project and make the contracted storage capacity available to GUVNL on a long-term basis. The BESPA has a tenure of 12 years from the effective date of signing.

The project marks another significant milestone in Advait Energy Transitions’ growing clean energy portfolio and reinforces the company’s commitment to supporting India’s energy transition through advanced grid infrastructure and energy storage solutions. As renewable energy penetration continues to increase, battery energy storage systems are expected to play a critical role in enhancing grid stability, improving energy reliability, and enabling greater integration of renewable power sources.

Commenting on the development, Vatsal Kundalia, Director of Operations, Advait Energy Transitions Limited, said:

“Battery energy storage is becoming one of the most critical building blocks of India’s clean energy future. This project represents an important step in our journey to build scalable energy transition infrastructure that supports grid resilience and renewable energy integration. We are pleased to partner with GUVNL on this strategic initiative and remain committed to delivering reliable, future-ready energy solutions that contribute to India’s long-term sustainability goals.”

The project further strengthens Advait Energy Transitions’ presence across emerging energy sectors, complementing its growing capabilities in transmission infrastructure, green hydrogen, renewable energy integration, and next-generation energy solutions.
