“Amitabh Kant to Lead National Dialogue on Shedding Our Colonial Vestiges for a Viksit Bharat at Bharat Ki Soch Event”

New Delhi, 4 May 2026: Bharat Ki Soch will host an upcoming session of its flagship Mantrana series, bringing together voices to deliberate on the theme of decolonisation as a pathway towards building a Viksit Bharat. The session is positioned within the broader national discourse on India’s journey towards 2047, focusing on the need to move beyond colonial-era frameworks that continue to shape institutions, policies, and ways of thinking.

At the centre of the session will be Amitabh Kant, former CEO of NITI Aayog and former G20 Sherpa, who will deliver the keynote address at the Multipurpose Hall of India International Centre (IIC, New Delhi) on 7 May 2026 at 3.00 PM. His presence is expected to anchor the discussion around how India can transition into a self-reliant, confident nation by aligning economic growth with intellectual and cultural sovereignty. Kant is expected to outline a vision of a Viksit Bharat that is not only economically and technologically advanced but also rooted in its own civilisational ethos, emphasising the role of original thinking shaped by Indian contexts while engaging with global systems.

The session will examine decolonisation not merely as a symbolic exercise but as a structural and psychological shift necessary for India’s future trajectory. It will explore how dismantling extractive colonial economic models, reorienting legal systems towards a justice-centric approach, and overcoming entrenched intellectual frameworks are critical to shaping a more inclusive and self-determined development path. The discussion will also reflect on the importance of aligning these shifts with broader national priorities as India moves towards becoming a developed nation by 2047.

Key themes of the deliberation will include economic transformation towards a value-surplus economy, legal decolonisation through evolving justice frameworks, and intellectual sovereignty driven by initiatives such as the National Education Policy and the integration of Indian Knowledge Systems. The conversation will further extend to questions of digital and strategic autonomy, particularly in the context of emerging technologies and the need to avoid new forms of dependency, while also aligning with the broader vision encapsulated in the Panch Pran.

This Mantrana session is expected to serve as a platform for meaningful dialogue on India’s development narrative through an indigenous lens.
