Apollo AyurVAID revives 78-Year-Old patient from Comatose State through Precision Ayurveda intervention

Bangalore, 09 February 2026: Apollo AyurVAID Hospitals, India’s leading NABH-accredited, precision Ayurveda hospital network, today reported a significant clinical recovery in a 78-year-old patient, Mr. Vishwanatham G, who was presented to them in a comatose condition with severe respiratory distress, persistent fever, and neurological weakness, after conventional intensive care had reached its limits.

Mr. Vishwanatham was admitted to Apollo AyurVAID after two weeks of continuous fever, severe cough with copious throat secretions, breathing difficulty, and marked weakness of the right upper and lower limbs. Prior to this, he had been treated at an allopathic hospital, where his condition deteriorated, necessitating ICU care. Despite intravenous antibiotics, fluids, antiepileptics, nebulisation, and supportive management, he developed severe dehydration, drowsiness, and an inability to swallow even liquids. His clinical state had worsened to the point where the family was preparing for the end-of-life arrangements.

On admission to Apollo AyurVAID, the patient was unresponsive, unable to swallow, and dependent on full supportive care. A personalised, protocol-driven Ayurvedic intervention was initiated, focused on stabilisation, clearance of respiratory secretions, neurological rehabilitation, and restoration of digestive and neuromuscular function, under close clinical monitoring. Over the course of treatment, the patient demonstrated steady, measurable improvement. He regained consciousness, respiratory distress reduced, swallowing reflexes returned, and neurological weakness improved. By the end of the care cycle, Mr. Vishwanatham regained consciousness, was able to swallow solid food without difficulty, consume oral medications, and walk independently.

Commenting on the case, Dr. Zankhana, Consultant Physician at Apollo AyurVAID Hospitals, said “This case reflects Ayurveda’s role not merely as supportive care, but as a complete medical system capable of restoring the full cycle of health. Our approach focused on reversing systemic collapse, clearing obstructions, rebuilding neurological strength, and re-establishing basic functions such as swallowing and mobility. The outcome reinforces the value of precision, protocol-driven Ayurveda in managing complex, critical conditions.”

Expressing gratitude, the patient’s son, Mr. Ramesh Babu added, “When we admitted my father, we had almost lost hope. As a family, we were mentally preparing for his last rituals. That was the state of mind we were in when we came Apollo AyurVAID. Today, I am grateful to say that he is walking back home. That was the only dream I had when I came here, and the team of doctors led by Dr. Zankhana made it possible. After 27 days of treatment, my father can eat on his own, take medicines orally, and walk independently. Even he says it feels like a rebirth for him.”

This case underscores Apollo AyurVAID’s clinically governed model of Ayurveda, where structured protocols, continuous monitoring, and integrative rehabilitation enable recovery even in advanced, life-threatening conditions, reaffirming Ayurveda’s relevance across the entire continuum of care, from critical to complete functional restoration.
